As Laboratory Technician, you will be part of the Sample Control team, which is responsible for shepherding client samples from arrival to disposal. Ideal candidates will possess the following: - A high school diploma or GED (required); an associate degree in Chemistry or related field (preferred) - Previous experience in a chemistry laboratory setting (preferred) - Basic math skills - Good attitude and willingness to work with others - Good communication and organization skills - Ability to follow written directions - Ability to regularly lift 40lbs and stand for periods of up to 8 hours Laboratory Technician duties include: ensuring samples are received, prepared, preserved, and stored appropriately according to internal SOPs and approved EPA handling methods; documenting and communicating receiving issues with Project Managers; preparing and shipping bottle orders and sampling kits for clients; calibration of equipment; lab maintenance and cleaning; preparation of laboratory reagents and solutions; and other duties as assigned. The pay rate for this position is $21.00 - $23.00 hourly. Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits after a brief waiting period: medical, dental, vision, life/AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401(k), health and dependent care FSA plans, employee assistance program, 15 days of paid time off per year for sick leave and/or vacation, 3 days paid bereavement leave, and 6 paid holidays per year. As a Research Chemist, you will be primarily responsible for the 2 Multi Collector ICPMS instruments (Nu Plasma 1700 and Nu Plasma HR), an Iridia Laser Ablation system, and an Agilent 8800 ICP-MS/MS system in our lab. You are expected to direct and/or perform research on various isotope systems such as Hg, Se, Pb, Sr, Li, and B in various matrices. You will be expected to publish your research results in scientific publications. You will also work closely with our clients and academic partners to solve their analytical problems. Our new Center for Isotopic Studies lab also houses other instruments such as 3 IRMS systems with various peripherals as well as GCs, LCs, and various other mass spectrometers available for collaborations. Ideal candidates will possess the following: • A PhD in chemistry, environmental science, or a closely-related field, with a proven track record of publications on Multi Collector ICPMS (required) • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Nu Multi Collector ICP-MS (required) • Strong knowledge and experience in purification of elements from complex matrices for MC-ICP-MS • Experience in quantitative bulk analysis and/or elemental imaging using LA-ICP-MS (preferred) • Ability to multi-task and oversee multiple projects at the same time • Excellent verbal and written communication skills This is a full-time position with a pay rate of $75,000 - $90,000, depending on experience. We have a unique Research Chemist position that offers the opportunity to work in a commercial laboratory while pursuing individual research in analytical chemistry using 3 Isotope Ratio Mass spectrometers with different peripherals, a Laser Ablation, and 2 Multi-Collector ICPMS systems. As a Research Chemist, you will be primarily responsible for development of new methods for food authentication, tracing of geographic origin, and the authentication of organic status utilizing all available instrumentation in our lab. You will be expected to direct and/or perform research and publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific publications. You will also work closely with our academic partners and clients to solve their analytical problems and help them design their experiments. Requirements: • PhD in chemistry, environmental science, or a closely-related field, with emphasis on natural abundance stable isotope ratio measurements. • A proven track record of publications related to Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry. • Experience working in a stable isotope lab with stable isotope applications. • Experience running and/or maintaining analytical instruments, such as LC-MS, GC-MS or GC-IRMS instruments, and experience with R, python, or Matlab. • Knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures for isotope ratio data. • Ability to multi-task and stay on top of many projects at the same time. • Positive, can-do attitude and ability to work in groups and ability to be a team player. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
